WordPress design launched for society website

I’m pleased to be able to share with you a new WordPress design I’ve just finished creating for the Powell River Hospice Society website. This simple, gentle, fresh and professional design meets the society’s needs now and into the foreseeable future.

The PRHS has grown very quickly over the last couple of years and needed a new website to meet their expanding needs. They wanted to provide site users with a straightforward, easy and comforting experience.

To support this, the most important new function they needed to add to the WordPress design was the ability to take online donations. The WordPress website content management system has many different options available to handle online buying and selling. Very few of these applications are designed specifically for non-profit organizations to take and manage donations. The PRHS needed to be able to take one-time donations AND monthly donations, including:

  • flexible one-time donations
  • flexible recurring donations
  • tribute gifts (in honour and in memory) – and offer notifications of these gifts
  • purchasing society memberships
  • providing tax receipts and thank you messages to donors (and tracking them)

One particular WordPress plugin – Give – seemed to meet the society’s donation management needs perfectly. It is now installed to fit seamlessly in the new website. I believe that this plugin will save volunteers and staff many valuable administrative hours in the coming years!

Services on the new website are streamed for those with life-limiting illness, caregivers, grieving a death and health care professionals. The PRHS serves an important role. Their mission is to become the most effective support possible for end-of-life and the bereaved in the Powell River area.
